Parking Permits For Staff

The Security team uses parking permit software to allow staff to apply for, change and cancel permits online, rather than contact the Parking Office. You will need to log onto the new system and register your details to receive a permit. The new system is not for motorcycles, which can be registered online here. Every member of the University staff is eligible to apply for a parking permit. If you are a full-time or part-time salaried member of staff, you can apply for a permit online. The cost is deducted from your monthly salary. If you are a casual member of staff, you can pay for your permit using the online store. Casual summer staff can only apply for an occasional user permit. If you are a member of staff who drives to campus on most days, a Standard permit is probably best for you. A Standard permit is valid in all permit-holder car parks.

If you are not going to park on campus often, the Occasional User permit is probably best for you. These are valid in all permit-holder car parks and allow you to park all day. The permit is issued free of charge but you must also make a £1.20 pay and display payment using JustPark to validate it. You can validate your permit using the JustPark app, phone line or SMS service. We strongly recommend that you do not car share during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is because if one person in the car tests positive for COVID-19, everyone in the car would need to self-isolate. If you apply for a Car Share permit, the main permit holder will pay for it. They can then collect the shared fee from the others in the group. Each driver in the group will receive an Occasional User permit for rare occasions when more than one of you needs to park a vehicle on campus at the same time. There are 12 car share parking spaces for this permit, six in the West Car Park and six in the East Car Park. These spaces are reserved until 10.30am, Monday to Friday. After this, they become available for any permit holder. Car Share permits aim to reduce car journeys to campus. Check with your car insurer to make sure your policy covers car sharing. If you have an electric or a hybrid vehicle, then you can use the Electric Vehicle permit. This allows you to park in one of the 14 bays reserved for electric vehicle charging. Your vehicle must be connected to the charging point and be charging to use one of these bays. If you have a Blue Badge you will need to get an Exempt permit. This allows you to park in any of the disabled parking spaces free of charge. Register your vehicle details and we will issue you with an Exempt permit. You must display this with your Blue Badge.

The University hereby declares itself not responsible for and assumes no liability arising from, fire, theft, vehicles left for multiple days, damage to or loss of the vehicle, or any items left therein. No bailment for the University is created with the purchase of a permit to park. Parking Permits are not transferable. Parking Permits can be revoked for misuse. All parking permits must be linked to the correct license plate number. Failure to register the plate number or the correct plate number may be a plausible cause for citation. Vehicles parked in unauthorized parking areas/zones are subject to citation and/or tow-away. Overnight parking of vehicles on University property is prohibited, with exception of University Housing Residents parked in the designated residential areas with a Residential Parking permit or with permission from the University Police. Vehicles in violation of this section may be cited and/or towed at the owner’s expense. Per Adm Procedure 402,7.3.4. the University may remove an abandoned vehicle, any vehicle parked in such a way as to constitute a traffic hazard, and vehicles illegally parked. Vehicles with five (5) or more unpaid parking citations are subject to impound (towing) under California Vehicle Code sections 22651.3(b) and 22651.7. The owner will be responsible for the costs involved in removing and storing of such vehicles. Students living on-campus who wish to bring a vehicle must purchase a Resident Parking Permit. First-time freshmen are not eligible for parking permits as they are not permitted to bring a vehicle to campus. To review our policies please visit our Housing Resident Parking Page. Housing Resident Parking Permits are only valid for parking in the north section of Lots 5, and along the marked spaces on Hellman Ave only. Residential Permits are not valid in student lots.

Blue badges allow cars carrying people who are registered blind or people who have severe walking difficulties to be parked near shops, stations and other facilities. Blue badges can only be issued to people who meet the eligibility criteria, not to relatives or carers. They can be used in any car the badge holder is driving or is a passenger in. If you are not automatically eligible we may determine your eligibility by assessment. It is an offence under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to display a badge on a vehicle when it is not being used to transport the badge holder. If you are unable to complete the form online then you can download blue badge scheme application form. Disabled parking bays are for blue badge holders and are provided at various locations throughout the borough. View these bays on our online map viewer. Clocks must be displayed. The disabled badge must always be correctly displayed (see below). Where can't you park? The vehicle must be moved if a police officer or a civil enforcement officer in uniform requests it.
